Hello, my name is Stephanie, founder of Take Root Yogis. My mission is to provide a welcoming and safe space on the mat using evidence-based, trauma-informed practices, where you can move with purpose and agency.

My 9 years of practice and comprehensive 200-hour trauma-informed training allow me to prioritise your autonomy. Every cue I give is an invitation, not a command. You are the expert of your own body, and my role is to provide the 'grounding gift of choice', offering variations of yoga poses and modifications to allow you to develop your practice with confidence and compassion. You will find a welcoming space here to meet yourself exactly where you are—both in body and mind—and grow progressively from seed to shoot.

A tiny bit more about me. I've always loved science. I have studied for a BSc in Biology, achieving a 1st class with honours. My passion led to a fully funded master's in research focusing on the ageing genes of a long-lived mammal. I love botany too and led plant specimen collections with the Oman Botanic Gardens (set to be the world's largest desert biome) between 2015 and 2017. Trauma has shown up along my path, and I used my poetry, journalism, and a lovely library career to serve and give compassionately from within. Needless to say, yoga played a big part. This invaluable, ancient scientific system allows me to deepen self-awareness and tap into a well of compassion that I pledge to share with you.

"I had the pleasure of working with Stephanie during her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, where I was the Lead Trainer. Stephanie approached every teaching assignment with care and professionalism, developing a particular strength in planning and structuring well-rounded, trauma-informed classes. I have no doubt Stephanie will go on to teach inspiring, thoughtful classes and share her passion for yoga in a way that positively impacts others. It was a pleasure to have her on the training, and I’m delighted to recommend her."
